Vagina Monologues

In partnership with Sista’Hood Celebration, In the House presents a poignant, fun, and ribald evening of theatre. "Witty and irreverent, compassionate and wise, the Obie Award-winning masterpiece gives voice to women’s deepest fantasies and fears." Proceeds from the show were donated to the WISH Women’s Shelter.

The Vagina Monologues is a poignant and hilarious tour of the last frontier, the ultimate forbidden zone - it is a celebration of female sexuality in all its complexity and mystery. Author, Eve Ensler, gives us real women’s stories of intimacy, vulnerability, and sexual self-discovery. The Vagina Monologues has been performed all over the world and has inspired a dynamic grassroots movement--V-Day--to stop violence against women. Witty and irreverent, compassionate and wise, the Obie Award-winning masterpiece gives voice to women’s deepest fantasies and fears, guaranteeing that no one who experiences the play will ever look at a woman’s body, or think of sex, in quite the same way again. www.vday.org

December 21, 2008

People dropped into this neighbourhood home to make a simple lantern to carry in a procession. In the true spirit of the In The House Festival, they enjoyed participatory singing with East Side Enchantment before the procession headed down Parker St. to Britannia in time for the opening ceremony at 6:00pm. www.secretlantern.org
