The Wanda Nowicki Quartet:
The Wanda Nowicki Quartet has been playing in the Vancouver area steadily over the past 6 years. 2010 marked their 5th year in the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. After many years performing in LA, Wanda returned home to Vancouver and hooked up with Steve Bagnell on sax, Mark Bender on bass, Chris Potter on keys, and more recently, Don Fraser on drums. The group is a highly entertaining blend of fun, off-beat standards and has a great feel for more passionate, moody tunes. Their CD Prezactly Excisely, came out in 2008.

Cascades Brass Quintet:
Vancouver-based Cascades Brass Quintet plays GF Handel, Scott Joplin, Claude Debussy, JS Bach, Duke Ellington, John Williams and Johannes Brahms (and everything else in between). In 2006, the ensemble won the top brass prize at the prestigious Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition held in California annually, and recorded for CBC Radio 2 shortly after. Forging a silvery and sonorous ambience, the selections of the 5 classically-trained brass musicians will resonate in the listener long after the performance.
